Preparing for Surgery
Procedures in the Centre
These patients are treated under Local Anaesthetic (LA) and when they book in for the procedure
they complete the relevant paperwork and are advised about
- fasting/not fasting
- medications to be stopped
- arrival time
- assistance with transport
- appropriate activities post operation (including work and general routines)
- wound care
- removal of sutures (stitches)
- no smoking and other activities that are deleterious to a good recovery
- costs and payment options
Procedures in the Hospital
Patients being admitted to a hospital for a procedure may be day case or an overnight stay or more days.
These patients will require Local Anaesthetic (LA) or LA with sedation or a General Anaesthetic. Dr Knox will advise patients about this and the appropriate pre surgery conditions will then be discussed with the patient.
Patients requiring garments and prothetics will be measured.
A complimentary St George and Sutherland Kit will be given to Cosmetic patients with some practical items to help in their preparation and recovery from surgery.
